PRAYLEX 2024

A 40-day Prayer Initiative Praying God's Word over Lexington.

Week 3 - PRAY FOR AMERICA

4/7 – Government—Federal, State, Local
(Executive, Legislative, Judicial, Governor, Mayor, Police Chief)

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone— for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. (1 Tim 2:1-2)

- Pray for our federal and local governmental leaders... that they would seek godliness. Turn from their wicked ways.

- Pray for our judicial system. For integrity. For wisdom. For justice.

- Pray for believers in leadership - That they would NOT grow weary of well doing. Pray that God would supply discernment & favor.

- Pray for the 2024 elections.  Despite what you see, pray for election integrity. Wisdom & guidance in voting. Courage to vote.

4/9 – Entertainment, Media, and Athletics

“...Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8) 

- Pray for journalists and those in the news media. Removal of those who promote half truths and outright lies. Bless those who use their power for good and desire accuracy in all they report - Not grow weary.

- Pray for discernment to recognize truth from a lie when considering what’s acceptable and good media to be consumed.

- Pray for courage as athletes navigate emboldened policies that degrade God-given gender roles and place female athletes in harms way. Pray for courage for them as they expose the lies with bold truth.

4/11 – Business and the Workplace

It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. (Psalm 112:5)

- Pray for businesses to operate with integrity and wisdom.

- Pray for bosses and managers to have hearts genuinely concerned with the overall well-being of their workers.

- Pray for Christian workers to display Christ-like conduct in all circumstances. Pray for opportunities to speak about your faith; courage to engage about your faith in everyday conversations.

4/8  – Our Armed Services

“We wait for Yahweh; He is our help and shield. For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name.” (Psalm 33:20-21)

- Pray for active military serving around the world.

- Pray for those seeking to defend our border. Ask for discernment & protection in this dangerous season.

- Pray for military families. (enduring long separations, frequent moves, strain on marriages)

4/10 – Pray for A National Revival

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

- Ask Holy Spirit to stir up the heart of this nation to return to Him.

- Pray for a hunger for Truth and the things of God.

- Pray for a revealing of sin and apathy in our nation. Pray for a Spirit of  repentance to—first—sweep through our churches and then our nation.

- Ask for eyes to see where God is working in our nation. Pray for encouragement in this season so we don’t grow wearing in well doing.

4/12 – Our Education Systems

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

- Stir the hearts of parents to recognize that they must take an active role in educating their children. Pray for wisdom and courage in fulfilling that command.

- Pray for teachers to have courage to make their classrooms places where students learn not only knowledge, but also morality and integrity.

- Pray for courage and guidance for school boards to be wise in choosing curriculums that uphold the truth rather than revisionist teachings.

4/13 – Celebrate Who God is Through Prayer

O Lord, there is none like You among the gods, nor any works like Yours. All the nations You have made will come and bow before You,
O Lord, and they will glorify Your name. For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God. (Psalm 86:8-10)

- Consider the miracles God performs every day... Miracles that allow you to  live, miracles of beauty, miracles displaying His power, etc.

- Recall “God moments” in your life when He moved /provided / assured you / etc. regarding a situation and give God the praise He alone deserves.

- Consider blessings you have living in this nation. Now take time to thank God for the first 5 blessings that come to mind.
